Five for Friday

It’s the Friday before Halloween (where did the time go?!?) so I thought I would do a Halloween-centric Five for Friday.  This week, I’m looking forward to:

Spending the day in Sleepy Hollow

We live just a few minutes from the town Washington Irving made famous in his tale. We plan on spending the day with friends doing some fun fall activities in town. Perhaps we’ll get a visit from the Headless Horseman!

Watching Halloween specials
I’m a sucker for all those specials I grew up with so I’ll be watching It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Garfield Halloween and The Worst Witch to help put me in the Halloween spirit.

I bought a bunch of candy for the trick-or-treaters but I never know if it’s enough or too much. Hopefully it’s the latter so that I can get to enjoy some of it too!  😉
Pumpkin spice lattes
OK so this is a recurring theme here but I have to get another before they fall out of season and the gingerbread lattes (my favorite) start appearing.
Surprise baby shower for a friend
I know, this one has nothing to do with Halloween, but it will be really nice to get together to surprise a friend and have a great afternoon!

Happy Friday!

Tempted by Travel

Today I’m linking up with Kori at Blonde Episodes for her Flirting with Temptation series.

Recently, I’ve been tempted by travel and I’m thinking of places to go next.

My last trip to London and Paris was fantastic!

We’re heading to Philadelphia in a few weeks.

Then it’s off to Newport for a wedding this Spring.

We’re toying with the idea of visiting one of the following places this summer:

Montreal, Quebec

Charleston, SC

Austin, TX

Orange County, CA

In my dreams, I would love to go to:

and many other spots.  But, all in good time.

And wouldn’t these be the perfect travel accessories???

What’s tempting you today?

Some Halloween Love

I always enjoy linking up with Heather at Big City Belle for her Fall in Love series. Today I thought since we’re less than a week away from Halloween, I’d share some of my favorite Halloween items and activities.

I just really love the way white pumpkins look – they’re so chic and perfect!

It’s still fun to watch all of the great Halloween specials from when I was a kid.

And being a child of the 80’s, The Worst Witch is one of my favorites.

And here’s the fabulously over-the-top Tim Curry in all his campy glory:

I’m a huge sucker for candy. Halloween is the perfect excuse to really go to town. Especially if you anticipated more trick-or treaters than you actually got. 😉

OPI Muppet Collection

I think this is such a great idea! I grew up watching the Muppets, and Kermit has long been a favorite of mine. So I was so excited when I heard that a new Muppet movie is coming out this Thanksgiving! And I am dragging The Husband to see it with me – he owes me for making me watch Caddyshack!

When I heard that OPI is releasing a limited-edition collection, I thought what a fab idea!!

The colors are as follows:
Wocka Wocka!
Pepe’s Purple Passion
Designer, de Better!
Warm & Fozzie
Rainbow Connection
Excuse Moi!
Gone Gonzo!
Fresh Frog of Bel Air
Divine Swine

Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It!

I think my favorites are Meep-Meep-Meep and Wocka Wocka. Of course Rainbow Connection holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of being 6 years old in dance class, learning all of the ballet positions.

“What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing? Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Five for Friday

Hello everyone – hope you had a great week!    Today I’m linking up with Veronika at Veronika’s Kandy Koated Dreams for her Friday Favorites – a perfect compliment to Five for Friday!  This week I’m looking forward to the following:

My orchestra concert

I’ve mentioned before that I play violin in a community orchestra in NYC. This Sunday is our first concert of the season. I’m really looking forward to it, especially since I was unable to play in the last two concerts.

Dallas BBQ

This is a local NYC chain of restaurants that serve really great comfort food – chicken, ribs, burgers, etc. They give you ridiculous portions at very inexpensive prices. And the place is always packed. I’m looking forward to getting an onion burger after the concert. It’s piled high with frizzled onions. And since the portions are so gigantic – it will feed me for 2 meals (no joke!)

Well I already have one but it’s a running joke with The Husband and our friends about his sad phone. I think it was made in the 90’s. 😉 But he is finally embracing technology and getting his very own iPhone this weekend – so he can stop using mine!

Relaxing with a funny movie

We’re planning on staying in tonight and watching Coming to America. We’ve probably seen it 50 times but it’s just really funny and silly, mindless entertainment.

Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha

I’ve been hearing a lot about these. I feel a bit strange straying from my reliable pumpkin latte but this just sounds too good to pass up!

Happy Friday!

Flirting with Fashion

Today I’m linking up with Kori at Blonde Episodes for her Flirting with Temptation series.

I’m tempted by fashion. As we get closer to the holiday season, we’re getting closer to all of the parties, outings, dinners and the like. Here are some items I’d love to have for all the upcoming festivities:

The perfect dress to ring in the new year!

Amazing aquamarine ring

Cartier Tank - an absolute classic!

You can dress it up or dress it down

Yes please!

A deep red nail color

Even more sparkling baubles

What’s tempting you today?

A Great Fall Fashion Find

Today I’m linking up with Heather at Big City Belle for her Fall in Love series!

I like to dress up. Don’t get me wrong – I also like relaxing on the couch in my sweats. But I’ve always been one to put on a skirt or dress as my go-to look. This weekend, I was on the hunt for a cute sweater dress. I like sweater dresses because they’re easy, comfy and versatile.

I first tried H&M but the only one they had was way too short for my liking. I think right above the knee is the best length. Plus, they only had my size in black and I have plenty of black clothes already. So when I happened to be in Target shopping for toiletries, I was pleasantly surprised to see this:

It’s comfy and cute and I’m already thinking of different ways to wear it. I have tons of different shoes that can change the look of the dress in an instant. Also, pairing it up with different accessories, or perhaps a belt can give it a whole new look.

What are some of your go-to Fall fashion finds?
