Five for Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I feel like I haven’t done one of these in a while. This week I’m looking forward to the following:

My concert

As I’ve mentioned, I play the violin in an orchestra and this weekend is our concert.  I wasn’t able to play in the last one, so I’m looking forward to this weekend’s performance.

Three day weekend

After working for 12 days straight(!!!) I’m ready for a little relaxation and am REALLY looking forward to having next Friday off!

Checking out a new restaurant

There are so many good restaurants near where we live, so I’m always interested in trying something new. I’m torn between Bartaco (not totally new, but I’ve never been), Sofrito and Dolphin. I’ll let you know which one we choose!

American Reunion

OK – I can’t believe it’s been 13 years since American Pie came out!! Where did that time go?? The Husband and I plan on being all nostalgic and seeing this movie next Friday, followed by a nice meal out.

Massage

After my busy few weeks, I need a relaxing massage. So I have an hour long Swedish massage booked and I cannot wait!

Happy Friday!  🙂

Gaining on your Goals

Hello – I am back!  I’ve been away for a bit and haven’t been able to post as frequently. But I had a huge work event all last weekend that I was preparing for and also worked at. It all went very well and now I’m happy to be back at my blog. Oh and did I mention that I need a fantastic massage like right now?  Well, I do!

Anyway, today I wanted to write about goals.  I think that I have set some great goals – some small, some big, some fluffy and some serious.

I think the key to attaining these goals and keeping yourself accountable to them is to write them down and continually write about your progress as well as any setbacks you may be experiencing.

One book I really like is Write it Down, Make it Happen by Henriette Anne Klauser, which I’ve mentioned on the blog before.

I try to re-visit my goals and write about my progress every two weeks or so. Now, obviously not every goal can have loads of progress every two weeks, but I still think it’s a good plan to keep on a schedule and see how you can keep on track and make any necessary changes towards gaining achievement.

How are you doing with your goals?  Do you have any tips to share regarding staying on track?

Favorite Spring Things

I’m linking up with Neely and Amber today for My Favorite Things About Spring!

I love Spring for many reasons.  It’s not too hot, not too cold, the flowers are blooming and we get to spend more time outside, walking, dining al fresco and just hanging out. Plus we can open the windows to let in all of the fresh air.

One of my favorite things is the blooming cherry blossoms.

I also love that clothing gets lighter and brighter, and these are a few of the types of items I’m looking forward to wearing:

Pedicures in fun, pastel colors:

And today is also free iced coffee day at Dunkin Donuts!  It’s another thing I love about the Spring – it’s getting warmer out and iced coffee is a fun afternoon treat.

What are some of your favorite Spring things?

Cherry Blossoms in Bloom

One of the best parts about Spring (to me anyay!) are the blooming cherry blossoms.  I think they are such pretty flowers, but unfortunately, have a very short peak time.  A few years back, The Husband and I were able to go down to DC during their cherry blossom festival weekend and it was a lot of fun.

Another event I love to attend is the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which is taking place April 28-29.

It’s such a fun event and you can explore the gardens, see the cherry blossom esplanade, lilac trees, Shakespeare garden and so much more.  There’s Japanese cultural events and food there as well, and one of my favorite events is the taiko drum performance.  Each year, Soh Daiko performs at the event and if you’ve never heard this type of drumming before, it is really very entertaining, fast-paced and fun.

If you have the chance, I highly recommend taking a visit to see the cherry blossoms at BBG or a park in your area!

Spring Sweets Swap

Happy Spring everyone!  I am so glad that it is finally here and I can’t wait for the weather to get a bit warmer.  In honor of the first day of Spring, I am linking up with Casey at Stress Case for her Spring Sweets Swap!

I was paired up with Lindsey from Sassy Ms. Ginger – you should definitely go check out her blog! We had a budget of $10 to get some sweet stuff for our partner.  Without further ado, I present all the lovely goodies Lindsey sent over (minus a few things I already devoured!)

What a haul!  And those unicorn lollipops look like a fun treat!  Thanks so much for everything Lindsey – and happy Spring again!  🙂

Pink and Green

My new obsession is trying to find pastel pieces to wear this Spring.  I’m currently coveting mint green and pale pink items.  They are somewhat reminiscent of my wedding colors and I think they make such a pretty and classic color combo.  Here are some of the items I’d love to have come Spring:

What’s your latest obsession?

A Perfect Saturday

This past Saturday was a lot of fun. I met a friend in the city and we had brunch at Freeman’s on the Lower East Side.  It’s right off Rivington Street, down a hidden alley. We had a nice time over coffee and pumpkin pancakes. And I really liked that they are one of the few restaurants left that give our matchbooks, since I like to collect them.

After brunch I walked around and did a bit of shopping before meeting The Husband in Madison Square Park.  And even on a chilly March day, there were still crowds eating at Shake Shack!

We walked up to Grand Central where we took one of our “famous” ghost tours and then topped off the night with dinner at a nice Italian restaurant.

A great way to spend a Saturday!
