Well it’s Wednesday, which means including today, I officially have 3 days of work left.
It also means my due date is quickly approaching! Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday I woke up and decided to take a test. Viola! I remember that day so clearly – it’s hard to believe it was all the way back in April.
We’re all ready for her arrival – I’ll be sharing some photos of the nursery in an upcoming post. I have to say, I’ve been lucky in that I’ve felt pretty good this whole time – except for some morning sickness in the beginning. It’s only now that I’m starting to experience some swelling in my feet, and pain and numbness in my hands. But all of that will pass and will be worth it in the end.
Next week I plan to be in nesting mode – cooking and baking things to freeze and have ready when we need them.
I’m sure December will go by in a whirlwind but we need to step back and be present in the moment – especially this Christmas.
Good things are happening both personally and professionally and I look forward to continuing to share them on this blog. 🙂

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! I know I’m looking forward to the following:
Watching our traditional Thanksgiving Eve specials.
The meal – ham (I don’t like turkey), stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and of course, pie!
Spending time with family and enjoying each other’s company.
This year, I am very thankful that we have a healthy baby who will be making her debut in a few short weeks. I am thankful that I will be able to stay home with her, watch her grow and help shape her world.
I am also thankful for the writing jobs I’ve been doing as they fulfill me professionally.
And of course I am thankful for my family, as always. They are truly a wonderful support system.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! 🙂
I’m finally reinstating Five for Friday – it’s been too long since my last one!
This week I’m looking forward to:
I’m meeting up with some friends for a girls night tonight – should be fun to get-together and catch up.
We’re going to Long Island tomorrow and meeting up with another good friend that I don’t get to see that often, and then having dinner with my parents.
We’re taking a Parenting class on Monday – just to get the basics down and make sure we’re doing things right. As The Husband says, we’re two college grads, we can figure this out – but since neither one of us has much experience with babies, we figured this class couldn’t hurt. We’re also taking a tour of the hospital on Tuesday.
The night before, we’ll keep our tradition of watching Thanksgiving specials (Charlie Brown and Garfiled) and then Planes, Trains and Automobiles. We’ll go to The Husband’s grandparents on Thanksgiving Day and spend the next day with my parents and go out for a really nice dinner.
I won’t be going crazy on Black Friday but I would like to get the majority of my shopping done that weekend, so I can be all prepared when Miss M comes (I’m calling her that for now as M is The Husband’s last name initial and her name is currently a secret!)
Have a great weekend!

This weekend, I ventured to the mall to try and do some early Christmas shopping. I figured since I’m due in early December, anything can happen and I should get a head start on things!
I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but Santa was already there taking pictures will all of the kids. How much earlier will we get next year?!? 😉
Unfortunately, I didn’t see much, but I did manage to get a cute bow from Baby Gap. The perfect accessory for the First Christmas outfit don’t you think?
Bought this bow in the solid red color
I’m going to do the rest of my shopping online – Amazon is my friend.
Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
OK, I feel like I’ve been MIA again for a while. We didn’t have work for 4 days last week due to Hurricane Sandy, so last Friday and the beginning of this week has been about playing catch up. We’re also prepping for a big corporate meeting that’s taking place in the office next week.
At the same time, I only have 17 more working days to go (that’s if I don’t go into labor early!) So I really shouldn’t be stressing and worrying about everything as much as I am. But unfortunately, that is my nature yet I know in the back of my mind that everything will get done.
But this coming Thursday is going to be a fun night. I’ve mentioned in past posts that I’m a member of my local Junior League. Thursday and Friday is our annual Holiday Boutique. This year it holds a more special meaning as all of the vendors will be donating a portion of sales to hurricane relief efforts and there will also be raffles benefitting relief efforts as well. I’m looking forward to doing some shopping, eating some yummy food, but most importantly, helping out a really important cause.
Well, I’m still here. Hurricane Sandy has come and gone and fortunately has not affected us personally too greatly in her wake. We’re fortunate enough to have power (even though our fridge died) as well as our home and belongings in tact.
Unfortunately, many were not as lucky as us. If you want to donate to relief efforts, you can contact the Red Cross through their website.
Both The Husband and I have off from work all week due to no electricity at our work places – I can’t even check my emails. It’s been a good time to get things done around the house – we’ve pretty much completed the nursery and have been washing baby clothes for days! My shower was this past weekend and I got so many nice things, so we’ve been preparing it all for our upcoming arrival. 🙂
Scenes from my shower
Didn’t notice the misspelling until I looked at the photo! 😉
It was a really great day and I feel so blessed to have so many people caring for our soon-to-be-here baby.
I hope everyone else is doing well too!
