interior design

Well here we are in the middle of July. How did that happen??? One good thing about summerbreak is that we’re finally starting to tackle more of the home projects on our seemingly ever-growing list.

One project that’s been a long time coming is re-painting our multi-level hallway. The previous owners were big fans of yellow while I am not. Over a year ago, we settled on Violet Pearl from Benjamin Moore as the new color. But then life happened and oh, I had a baby! And painting was put on the back burner.

But now we’re in the midst of getting it done and it’s looking great so far! I can’t wait to do a bit of decor updates and really make the space feel cohesive and complete. For now, here’s a sneak-peek of the color plus some inspiration.

From Yellow to Violet

A Nook of My Own

Do you ever feel like there’s a space in your house you just don’t know what to do with? That’s how I’m feeling right now about one corner of our master bedroom. It’s a big room but I find there’s this one area of wasted space that’s too small to do much with since it sits right in between two closets.

My idea is to create a small (read: cozy) reading nook where I can go to sit and relax. It’s only large enough to fit a chair and side table but really, what more do you need? Add in a comfy throw, pretty table lamp and some candles and you’re all set! Here are some of the spaces that I’m finding inspiring. You’ll have to check back in a bit to see the final reveal!

Living Space Transformation In Progress

Well, I have to say, things are coming along nicely in our new house. Of course, there’s been some big expenses (some expected and some not so much) but I hear this is usually what tends to happen when purchasing a new (to you) home.

New paint is up and we have some new furniture too. As of right now, our living room consists of just one sofa (how sad), but I have plans in my head to complete the space.

We also just got a new dining table that is unfortunately sitting in the middle of the living room (I guess sometimes not having furniture comes in handy!) We’re just waiting for the chairs to be delivered this week and then we’ll be all set.

In the meantime, I am gathering ideas for our living space. Here is just some of my inspiration. What do you think?

We’re planning to host Christmas Eve so I am confident that our home will be ready for its debut by then!
