J. Crew

Chic Winter Style

We are officially in the thick of a cold, cold winter. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be fashionable while we’re trying to keep warm, right? Here are some of my picks for staying cozy without giving up style.

J. Crew Chateau Parka

OK, so it seems everyone and their mother has this coat, but there’s a good reason – it’s a great coat! Not only is it cute, but it also keeps you warm without the bulk. And I for one am so sick of those black puffy coats anyway! It comes in a ton of color options too. One word of advice – go one size down from your usual size as it’s quite roomy.

Infinity Scarf

Another ubiquitous trend but a necessity. A colorful scarf can make a neutral coat pop! I pair my gray coat with a blue/orange knitted scarf and receive so many compliments – another boost to the system during the cold winter months!

Finally, we all need a stylish and warm pair of boots. And while I am guilty of wearing that pair, there are so many other good choices out there.
How do you keep your sense of style in the cold?

Spruce Up Your Winter Look

Sometimes it’s hard to get yourself going on a cold winter morning. But the cold weather is no excuse to not look and feel good! It’s easy to throw on a pair of leggings and hoodie and call it a day (especially if you work/stay home). But with just a bit of effort, you can create an easy and stylish look in just a few minutes extra than it would take to get your sweats on! Here are some items I’m loving right now for that chic and polished look.

I’m a big fan of Bare Escentuals Buxom eye shadow. It’s a creamy, creaseless shadow that has a bit of shimmer to give it that extra pop. Most days I just put on some eyeliner, Buxom in Collie (a neutral shimmer) and a little lip gloss and I’m off! The best thing is, the company donates a portion of sales to Canine Companions for Independence. Look good while doing good!

The Smashbox Wondervision eye set in Flash is fun when I’m looking for a bit more drama. The colors are rich and stay on  very well.

The Husband makes fun of me because he says I’m constantly doing my nails. But I like to change them up! I do like dark, rich colors for Winter but I’m also a fan of bright pops mixed in.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love chunky, oversized sweaters in the winter. They’re just so cozy! Pair them with some skinny jeans, boots and a great bag and you’re good to go!

Very versatile

Love the leather detailing

Sweater Weather

Now that November’s weather is getting chillier (and snow was coming down in NY this morning), I’m on the hunt for some great sweaters. I love layering in sweaters during the late Fall and Winter and I’ve found a few that I’m currently coveting.

Madewell has a really great selection of basics for a good value. Here are some of my favs:

I love the elbow patches and this style comes in my favorite color – gray!

I actually just bought this one yesterday – love the offset blocking and contrast

The bright pop of tomato red looks great

J. Crew is also a favorite of mine for staples that will last in your wardrobe for years to come.

Basic black gets a kick with the addition of zippers

Love the addition of leather panels on the sleeves

Everyone needs a cashmere sweater in their closet, and why not one in an unexpected color

These are just a few of my favorites to get me through the winter. A cup of coffee in hand, some great boots and a scarf, and I’m all set! What are some of your favorite cold weather looks?

May Day

Today is already May 1 – the flowers are blooming and the nice weather is finally here to stay (I’m crossing my fingers!) Memorial Day is right around the corner, and with that the summer is not too far behind. I’ve been thinking about summer wardrobe options and these are some of the items I’m currently coveting.

Not just for little girls, eyelet seems to be the trend of the summer. And you can get it in an array of colors too. From dresses to skirts, tops and shorts, everyone can wear eyelet this summer.

Maxi Dresses

I never wore them until last year, but I am a new fan of the maxi dress. I think they’re flattering on a lot of different body types and they’re such an easy and effortless look.

I just bought this Calvin Klein dress and love the bright contrasting colors. It looks great with a pair of nude wedges.

White Sandals

You can never go wrong with a pair of white flats. They’re versatile enough to go dressy or casual and are just classic summer style.

Spring is in the Air

I can feel it – Spring is in the air! Even though we are supposed to get snow today, but that’s another story. I am choosing to look ahead to the warmer weather and all of the activities I’m looking forward to including taking Lady M on some outdoor activities, walks in NYC and outdoor brunches.

I am also looking forward to Spring fashions, as I won’t be in maternity clothes this year! Here are some of the items I’m hoping will become new staples in my wardrobe:

This dress from Banana Republic has a fun graphic pattern in bright colors. It would look perfect with a pair of green pumps in my closet!

I’m always on the hunt for new sandals and this Tildon pair are fancy enough for night, but the wedge makes them casual enough for the day. You can pair them with so many types of outfits.

Liberty of London always has fun, colorful floral prints and they have now teamed up for a collection with J. Crew. This skirt’s bright pops of color makes me long for warm, sunny days.

What are you looking forward to this Spring?

My Christmas Wish List

Today’s blog challenge topic – Christmas Wish List!

This is a fun one because there are so many things I can think of!  Here’s a sampling of what I’d like (especially if I had unlimited funds)  🙂

Cartier tank solo

I’m actually saving up to buy myself this watch.  It’s an absolute classic and I’m almost to my goal!

Marc Jacobs or Chloe bag

These bags are classic – great styles and leathers.

Aquamarine ring

More specifically an emerald cut with a halo of diamonds.  Think I’ve been obsessing about this for a while?

Second eternity band

I’d love to be able to stack my bands when the mood strikes.  I don’t want it to match my band exactly but have the same vintage feel.

Kate Spade bag

Such a pretty color!

J. Crew sweater (unfortunately sold out – please make more J. Crew!!!)

OK – I keep telling myself, buy it when you see it but then I never listen.  I saw this sweater in the store on Black Friday yet I didn’t even try it on.  You snooze, you lose.

Taschen books

These books are just so well put together and a real feast for the eyes.  Great coffee table books!

What’s on your wish list?

Oh You Shouldn’t Have!

Today I’m linking up with Kori at Blonde Episodes for her Flirting with Temptation series.  Today, I’m tempted by pretty packages.

It’s always fun to get a present – but what about when that present is from you to you?

I ordered a new sweater from Net-a-Porter the other day – my first time ordering from the site.  I have to say, I was very impressed with them.  First off, they had free shipping and then I was able to choose sleek black packaging (also free) for my sweater to arrive in.

It came last night and when I opened the outer box, I was greeted with this:

I also received a handy tape measure in this pouch to ensure correct sizing for any future purchases.

Opening the box in anticipation:

And finally, here’s the sweater!

Ah, I love getting gifts from myself!  🙂

* I was in no way compensated for this post, I was just very pleasantly surprised with the great service by this company  🙂
